Services

A child’s first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable. Children are not born with a natural fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown. Our office makes a special effort to use pleasant, non-frightening, simple words to describe each treatment. The more you and your child know about your visit, the services we offer the better you will feel. Below you can see a list of services we offer from preventive care to more complex care.

Preventitive care

Preventive care includes dental activities that help you maintain good oral health. Preventive dental care involves a combination of practices, habits and activities like brushing your teeth, flossing, eating healthy food and visiting your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings.

Dental Exam & Cleaning

During your exam, your Pediatric dentist will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other health problems. Your dentist may also want to take X-rays to see what is happening beneath the surface of their teeth and gums, The images provided will help your dentist discover dental issues not visible to the eye.

Dental Fillings and sealants

A child’s smile is important to everyone: to them, to their parents, and us.

If a child has tooth decay Dr. Josefsten will use tooth-colored filling materials to restore the child's smile. The material is known as composite and it's basically unnoticeable.

This material works on everything from baby teeth to permanent, adult teeth.

Dental sealants are a thin coating placed over the biting surface of a child’s molars to protect them from the decay.

Sedation

Facts About Sedation Dentistry

  • There are many types of sedation dentistry.
  • Sedation is the use of medication to make your child very calm for a procedure, but not sound asleep.
  • Sedation is done in the dentist’s office.
  • Your child’s dentist may recommend sedation dentistry for long or multiple procedures, for children with a high fear of dental care, those who have special needs, or children who find it difficult to sit still.

Tongue-tie

Lingual frenectomy (Removal of Tongue-Tie) improves the patterns of sucking and breastfeeding in infants with tongue-tie.  The use of lingual frenotomy has been widely indicated by health professionals.

After frenectomy, the number of sucks increases and the pause length between sucking decreases during breastfeeding.
